N Brown rescues Nightingales and offloads Zendor

Home shopping firm N Brown has disposed of its fulfillment arm Zendor.com and bought womenswear business Nightingales out of administration.

N Brown sold the fulfillment business for £3.83 million to US ecommerce solutions provider GSI Luxembourg and in turn snapped up Nightingales for £77,000.

The Nightingales transaction has boosted N Brown's customer database by more than 150,000 names. Nightingales is an online and catalogue operation selling own label product for women aged 35 and over.

N Brown chief executive Alan White said "The sale of Zendor will successfully complete our disposal programme of non-core activities and enables us to concentrate on our core strategy of growth in the catalogue and internet retail market. The acquisition of Nightingales will complement our other brands in the upmarket ladies wear sector."

The sale of Zendor is expected to be finalised later this month following a consultation with the staff.
