Littlewoods has restructured its board to align its marketing and product functions.

Group buying and merchandising director David Inglis has been promoted to the new role of trading director and will add sales and marketing to his responsibilities.

Sales and marketing director Clive Briscoe, who was responsible for the hugely successful Trinny and Susannah campaign, has left the business as a result of the changes.

Chief executive Mark Newton-Jones said: "We are two years into our five-year turnaround and while we are pleased with our progress to date, this re-organisation is designed to ensure strategic alignment of the product and marketing teams."

The re-structure comes on the back of a strong Christmas trading performance. Littlewoods reported a 7% sales increase year on year, which was supported by strong online sales, up 44%.  Littlewoodsdirect.com experienced sales growth of 80% over the Christmas period.

Inglis joined Littlewoods a year ago from Asda.
