Pierre-Henri Mattout has joined Swiss brand Victorinox as creative director, tasked with overseeing development of the brand's menswear ranges.

Mattout will steer concept and product design, collection development and all aspects of merchandising.

He was previously creative director at French mill and luxury manufacturer Dormeuil. He also owns and designs his eponymous menswear collection, which was launched in 1998.

Mattout's first collections for Victorinox will be for spring 09. He will also create a new men's capsule collection to be sold in Victorinox flagship stores and at select accounts worldwide.

Victorinox Apparel UK sales director Chris Akrimi said: "This is a great step for the brand. Our long-term strategy is to grow the brand's account base, and with Mattout on board it gives us more confidence to approach fashion-aggressive accounts. The plan is to straddle the designer and sportswear markets."
