Tillman appointed BFC chairman

Jaeger owner Harold Tillman has been appointed chairman of the British Fashion Council, as predicted by Drapers last month.
Tillman will replace Marks & Spencer chief executive Stuart Rose who has been in the role since January 2004. Rose will step down after London Fashion Week in February.
Tillman said: "I aim to build on the strong foundations put in place by Stuart, BFC chief executive Hilary Riva and her team. London is internationally recognised as the most creative and exciting fashion capital. We have the best design colleges in the world which each year create a strong pool of talented designers wishing to start their own label businesses. Through the BFC and London Fashion Week we will offer support to these fledgling businesses, helping them to develop a market and attain sustainable growth."
Tillman , who is also chairman of Allders of Croydon, created a £1 million scholarship programme for students at The London College of Fashion.
