Tim Little buys footwear brand Grenson

Footwear brand Grenson has been bought by its creative director Tim Little for an undisclosed sum.

Little bought the brand from Grenson chairman Christian Purslow who became managing director of Liverpool Football Club last year.

Little, who has taken over the role of chief executive, joined Grenson in 2005, helping to revitalise the English heritage brand.

He told Drapers: “I bought the brand because I love it. I bought my first pair of Grenson shoes when I was about 18. It’s a powerful and exciting brand with a lovely history.”

He plans to increase Grenson’s wholesale accounts in the US and Japan, which each have around 30 accounts.

Little said Grenson, which is wholesaled in 200 UK stores such as Kurt Geiger, Matches and Harrods, is considering further retail opportunities. Currently Grenson has one store in Liverpool Street, London.

The website will undergo a major revamp in the next month, with a possible move to ecommerce. Little said the website is a crucial place for consumers to find out about the brand.
