The inspiration behind my final collection is a fusion of hip hop street style, punk fashion and historical corsetry. I have combined the recognizable elements from each genre to create a modern and edgy look. I have manipulated chromed metal in a bold and angular way, inspired by the shoulder and hip pads introduced by Christian Dior's New Look underwear in the 1950's. The garments challenge proportion with their oversized, boxy shapes adapted from menswear blocks whilst applying traditional tailoring techniques in their construction.
