Harrods plans to revamp its menswear department to bring all its premium brands onto the same floor and drive footfall.
The luxury department store has approached brands about moving its designer menswear offer from the lower ground floor to join the rest of menswear on the ground floor of the store in London's Knightsbridge. The ground floor currently houses classic formalwear from brands such as Brioni, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Canali, along with casualwear from Henri-Lloyd, Gant and Belstaff.
The area also accommodates shirting, ties and accessories from brands such as Eton, Etro and Van Laak. Accessories will move downstairs as part of the overhaul.
Harrods' lower ground floor hosts the store's designer offer including Prada and Gucci.
Head menswear buyer Torly Grimshawe declined to give details of plans and said they were at a preliminary stage. She added that Christmas trading for menswear had been strong.
One supplier said: "It's something Harrods has been talking about for a while but it now seems determined to do it."
Harrods restructured its menswear team in October after general merchandise manager Peter Nyhan and menswear buying controller Carsten Skovgaard left. Grimshaw, who was womenswear concessions manager, took over responsibility for menswear.
