Harrods has promoted its womenswear concession boss to lead its menswear offer, following the sudden departure of two senior menswear figures last week.
General merchandise manager Peter Nyhan and menswear buying controller Carsten Skovgaard have both left the business. The circumstances surrounding their departures are unclear.
Womenswear concessions manager Torly Grimshaw will take over from Nyhan to head menswear, but will also retain her womenswear responsibilities.
Harrods sells menswear brands including Paul Smith, Henri-Lloyd and Hugo Boss across formalwear, casualwear and accessories.
A source said: "Harrods has struggled to make tailoring work and there was too much stock that wasn't selling through. It has been a tough season."
A Harrods spokesman declined to comment on the departures.
Harrods has donated £500,000 to retail charity The Retail Trust, which has named its new community centre at Mill Hill, north London, after the retailer. The donation is Harrods' contribution to the charity's 175th anniversary.
