Womenswear retailer Jane Norman saw operating profit more than double to £21.5 million last year.

Profit for the year to March 31 2007 grew to £21.5m from £9.6m the previous year although the 2006 accounting period only covered an eight-month period after the business was bought by Baugur.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, sales also rocketed, growing by 89% to £132.6m for the period.  

Gross margin increased from 60% to 62%, while earnings doubled from £14.8m to £30.1m.
