H&M sales boosted by new openings

H&M saw like-for-like sales fall back 1% in January but total sales rose 9% during the month, thanks to new stores.

The January performance was against a total sales rise of 3% in December and a like-for-like sales decline of7% in December.

H&M had 1,741 stores on January 31 against 1,524 stores on January 31, 2008.

The sales increases exclude currency exchange rate fluctuations.
