West End to capitalise on London Fashion Week fever

  • Comment

Fashion retailers in London’s West End will host a High Street Fashion Week in early September to promote shopping in the capital and take advantage of the build up to London Fashion Week.

Fashion chains along Oxford Street are expected to hold a series of promotional events, including offering shopper discounts, fashion advice workshops and opening late, to promote their autumn 09 ranges.

“We have the best high street as well as the best designers.”

Up to 20 retailers will also take part in a launch event, which is likely to be a catwalk show to promote the key autumn trends.

The event, which is being organised by the New West End Company, which represents retailers in the West End, will take place from September 7- 11 - a fortnight before before London Fashion Week kicks off.

New West End Company spokesman Jace Tyrell said: “During London Fashion Week, the West End sees a big increase in sales. This is about how we can commercialise it and show everyone we have the best high street as well as the best designers.”
