John Lewis sales still on the up

John Lewis sales rose 7.4% year-on-year

Sales at John Lewis rose 7.4% year-on-year for the period between Sunday and Wednesday this week.

Sales at the business continued to rise and are up 7.6% compared with the same period last week.

Director of retail operations Patrick Lewis said: "Sales continue to build towards a peak which will be either this week or next. Monday was the biggest every day for John Lewis Direct - sales were £2.8m for the day, up 67% on the same day last year, and 17% compared to the same day last week."

Sales for the week to December 8 were up 5.2% on the same period last year. Sales of party footwear were up 99%.
