Xmas Sale watch: French Connection kicks off discounts

French Connection has gone on Sale today with discounts of up to 50%.
The young fashion retailer, which issued a profit warning last month, has launched the Sale across its high street stores 12 shopping days before Chrsitmas.
Dutch retailer Mexx has also launched its Sale today with reductions of up to 50% and TM Lewin has mega promotions on its shirts which are reduced from between £79 and £65 down to just £27.
Several footwear retailers are already well into their Sales, but most tend to discount pre-Christmas every year. Clarks has a full blown 50% off Sale. Shoe Studio Group also launched its Sale this week.
Fashion retailers have been driving shoppers into their stores with "secret Sale" emailed discount vouchers and Mega Day promotions until now. The early indications suggest the high street could be covered with red and white banners well before Christmas despite the fact there are two key shopping weekends still to come.
