Retail sales up in September

The volume of clothing and footwear sales rose by 0.6% last September, compared to the previous month, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Year-on-year sales volumes for clothing and footwear were up 6.5%. The total value of clothing and footwear sales was up 5.6% year on year.

Total retail sales were up 6.3%, the largest since 2004. They rose 1.7% on a three month basis.
