Luxury British heritage brand Burberry has promoted William Kim to the newly-created position of senior vice president of digital commerce, to drive online growth.
Kim, who was previously Burberry’s vice president for the South East Asia region, will be responsible for spearheading an acceleration of Burberry’s digital growth plans and will report directly to chief executive Angela Ahrendts.
Kim will be responsible for a global relaunch of the Burberry.com website, which the company intends to turn into “a virtual flagship” by enhancing the online shopping experience and extend the ecommerce platform to new markets.
Ahrendts said: “I am thrilled to announce the promotion of William Kim to senior vice president of digital commerce. This newly created position will allow Burberry to focus additional resource on this high growth channel, whilst delivering the ultimate brand and luxury experience to consumers globally”.
Kim joined Burberry in November 2005 as chief financial officer for Korea. He joined from Gucci Group where he held a number of senior positions most recently as vice president and chief financial officer for Gucci in the US.
