Alice Palmer, 30
Knitwear designer
Royal College of Art knitted textile MA graduate Alice Palmer took part in Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s One to Watch catwalk for spring 09. She went on to take the Best Womenswear Designer title for the collection at the NY Profile event during New York Fashion Week, and had her first solo show for spring 10. She has also exhibited during Tokyo Design Week.
Palmer has joined Squatters, a concept store for emerging designers on London’s Pimlico Street, just off Sloane Square. But she is also making waves at a more commercial level – pieces from her collection have already been stocked by Asos.com.
Palmer says: “I’m aiming to build my brand by keeping my creative style and my way working techniques strong. In the future, though, I’d also like to look at menswear.”
John Walford, Vauxhall Fashion Scout founder and director, says: “Alice has Scottish textiles running through her. She has a beautiful aesthetic understanding of wool and a sensibility on colour.”
