Christopher Kane, 28
Designer
Multiple awards, prestige international stockists and still only 28 years old, Glasgow born Christopher Kane is not so much a rising star as one that is already set in the firmament.
A graduate of Central St Martin’s – where he studied on a foundation course, BA and MA degrees – one of the first awards he picked up was the annual Harrods Design Award. A private audience with American Vogue’s Anna Wintour followed, as did British Fashion Council/Topshop New Gen sponsorship. In November 2007 he was named New Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
Kane has worked with Giles Deacon and Russell Sage, and collaborated with Versace on a capsule footwear and accessories collection for its diffusion line Versus. Harvey Nichols, Browns, Dover Street Market, Liberty and net-a-porter in the UK plus a raft of major international stores including Barneys, Corso Como, Maria Luisa, Joyce and Isetan have been among his stockists, while his high street credentials are already stellar – the Topshop capsule collections have been among the highlights of the season. This is the man to beat.
