Founder, FB Collection, aged 29
Inspired by the beach culture of Brazil and created for design-conscious men, Harry Brantly launched FB Collection in 2009. It was initially a beach bat-and-ball brand, which later flourished to include a swimwear range for spring 11.
The brand captures the Brazilian lifestyle perfectly. The beach bat-and-ball sets are called Frescobol, after the Portuguese word for the game played along the beaches in Brazil.
Brantly has built the brand to 50 stockists and 100 doors worldwide in two years, including Selfridges, Bloomingdale’s and luxury resort hotels for the trunks, which sell for between £115 and £135.
Based in London and Rio, Brantly previously worked in banking, and set up the business with Max Leese, a university and banking friend. “We knew so many people who wanted high-end men’s swimwear, and they also wanted anything from Brazil.”
He continues: “The world is intrigued and inspired by everything Brazilian right now, and there is the added tail wind of the 2014 Football World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.”
Genuinely authentic, FB Collection uses prints designed by Brazilian artist Caio Locke.
Brantly says: “One more year of building the brand internationally and adding product, then a standalone store within a year.”
