Thomas Tait
Womenswear designer, aged 24

Thomas Tait
Recipient of a British Fashion Council NewGen presentation sponsorship for London Fashion Week autumn 12, Thomas Tait is already making waves with his restrained, sculptural silhouettes.
Lauded as one of the youngest ever Central Saint Martins MA Fashion graduates at just 22 in 2010, Canadian-born Tait came to London after completing a technical womenswear course at La Salle College in Montreal.
In 2010, he was included in the Central Saint Martins graduate show, won the inaugural £25,000 Dorchester Collection Fashion Award, was identified as ‘one to watch’ by US Vogue, and became the first designer collaborator in the Asos young talent incubator scheme, Asos Inc. Tait’s spring 11 debut collection was shown in the Wilkinson Gallery in east London, and featured his own footwear as well as ready-to-wear.
Footwear designer Manolo Blahnik, who was on the Dorchester judging panel, said: “Thomas has such potential. The couture of it, the lines – his work is exceptional and wonderful.”
