Debenhams
Key Looks
The folk look was here, in the ubiquitous paisley print dress and faux fur gilet, but it is the young, rock chick stories which stand out. A Henry Holland-inspired collection of purple tartan kilts and matching blazer and pinafore looks fresh and fun, while a new goth collection features sexy leather trousers. There is a strong bent towards more minimalist styles for the core Debenhams customer for autumn, with knee length coats in ivory and camel boiled wool, and draping dresses in fluid grey fabrics. Also strong are the painterly floral prints on A-line skirts and the bright evening dresses adorned with appliqué rose corsages.
Right for the market?
The surprising thing for Debenhams this season is that its strengths actually lie in the younger end of its offering. The classics pieces will suit the traditional Debenhams market but Red Herring will be the line to watch for autumn.
