GAP
Key looks
Gap has taken a softly, softly approach for autumn, plumping for touchable fabrics such as velvet and merino wool on cosy cardigans, slouchy trousers and loosely belted dresses. Alongside Gap's standard palette of grey, black and white, highlight colours include fuchsia pink and claret. A range of buttons show off attention to detail, while layering is significant; pinafore dresses are paired with crisp white shirts, thigh length cardigans are worn open over cable knit dresses and mannish blazers are teamed with wide legged trousers.
Right for the market?
After a summer of neutral toned belted shifts, the autumn take is predictably a woollen version of similar styles. But the knitwear does look strong and, teamed with the statement colour pieces which were a little lacking for spring, there is enough new interest to please current customers and potentially attract new ones looking for a good quality key knit piece for their wardrobe.
