Oasis - final score: 24/40

Looks - 7There are strong nods towards many of the key trends here, with tribal print tops, nautical navy blazers and six-button high-waisted trousers, big floral prints on dresses, A-line skirts, star print scarves and concertinaed pleats. More casual product comes in a khaki, beige and chocolate palette and includes T-shirt dresses, cropped jeans and little cotton jackets. Black and white gingham is translated well for the Oasis customer on both a full-skirted dress and a high-waisted skirt. | Mix - 5The whole front section of the store is made up of dresses, both evening and day versions, so casualwear is less of a focus than in autumn. Workwear is present, and includes some diamond knit tank tops and waistcoats. However, half of the product is hanging in the window by the accessories, and the other half is tucked at the back with the Sale product. The depth of the nautical theme means it is split into a white with blue and a white with red area. |
Store - 6Sale product is kept immaculately tidy at the back of the store. Bags and footwear are merchandised well alongside appopriate outfits offering help with outfit building. The mannequins are dressed in more casual product than is found on the rails which is possibly a hangover from last season's casualwear-heavy look, but the dresses are strong so it is a shame they aren't pushed more. Changing rooms are opulently decorated with heavy curtains and wrought iron mirrors, but are ruined by harrassed staff and half-empty cardboard boxes lying around. | Value - 6Price justification comes via detailing at Oasis, so vests trimmed with satin are £15, a heavily embellished cotton top with plenty of ethnic beading seems worthy of its £40 price tag and diamente buttons on a simple cotton khaki dress just about allow it to be £38. A leather bomber is £130 but feels good quality. However, a simple ruffled blouse at £35 is nearly twice the price of New Look for no discernable reason. Silk tops are £45 and a silk dip-dye dress is £65, while a more subtle approach to the star print trend comes in the form of a sheer scarf for £12. |
