Looks - 9Reiss has really hit the money with its looks this season, successfully pinpointing the trends that will appeal best to its stylishly turned out customer and adding an inventive twist. The jumpsuit style seen in Gap is formulated in shiny black silk here and ruffles are accompanied by of-the-moment tassels and fringing, while metallic cropped bombers, a gold bibbed shift dress and plasticised cotton skirts are unlike anything else Drapers saw on its trip. The cut and fit of the product is effortlessly sophisticated. | Mix - 8Reiss has balanced its product mix well for its customer, offering smart day dresses, tailored separates, evening frocks and just enough casual denim for its stylishly turned out punter. Much of the product is colour merchandised, which works well as Reiss has experimented more with shades this season – hot pink, teal and sunshine yellow add extra energy to the store. The only minor let down is a lack of the lightweight outerwear needed for spring. Workwear is well catered for in ultra smart and more summery suits. |
Store - 8The Barrett Street store has only been open four months, so it is, as you would expect, one of the more aesthetically inviting of the shops visited. The steel and glass shopfront is imposing, glass display cases keep accessories and folded product impeccably tidy, and curved rails allow for easier browsing. Padded grey walls juxtapose well with the sharp marble floors and huge black patent staircase in the middle of the store, which offering a feeling of luxury to the shopping experience. | Value - 8Although its prices are a little higher than some of its competitor stores, Reiss's price points are worth it for the individual design, fabrication and attention to detail. A striped jersey top is good value at £49, and luxe fabrics have been injected through the product to give real value for money, so a tiered skirt in light as air silk is £85, while brass buttons on the shoulders of a soft cashmere knit validate its £75 price tag. £265 for an oyster-coloured leather bomber is significantly more reasonably priced than Karen Millen and Jigsaw's alternatives, and suit jacket and matching trousers are £169 and £95 respectively. |
