Verdict: Despite its acre-upon-acre of trend-led product, Topshop lacks its usual wow factor.

Looks - 8

Tiered floral skater skirts and petal-adorned tea dresses lead the way for Topshop this season, alongside pin tuck blouses, tie-dyed dresses and flared jeans.

A strong nautical story is best referenced via a white blazer with navy piping and anchor motif, while the blazer appears again in both a military style with gold buttons and in blue and yellow Oxbridge stripes.

Key trends are clearly referenced but there is a lack of viv and verve for the more experimental Topshop customer.

Mix - 7

Denim and jersey basics are both strong areas. Dresses are plentiful, particularly on the lower level of the store, where the injection of ranges including Rare and Lipsy adds a boutique feel unique to the flagship store.

Our visit is slightly too early for the high summer drop, so there was a dearth of swimwear and still too much knitwear for summer.

Denim has its own dedicated lounge area where brands include Lee, Baxter and Levi's, as well as Topshop's own Moto label.

Store - 5

The majority of signage is Kate Moss-driven, yet the small area of the store devoted to her third collection was the least busy when Drapers visited.

This OTT advertising meant it was easy to miss other sections of the store which weren't signposted, such as the much-hyped New Gen designers' Boutique tucked at the back of the main floor, and the small but comprehensive maternity section.

There were pointers to the website however, which are important as it is such a key part of keeping Topshop's tourist customers in the know.

Value - 6

Jeans weigh in at between £35 and £45, which is at the pricey end of the young fashion offerings.

The tiered skater skirt style starts at £28, motif T-shirts are well positioned at £16, but you pay for the name in the Boutique section, where a thin cotton geometric print dress by Jonathan Saunders is £50.

A black and white gingham dress is £45, which makes it £5 cheaper than the Oasis version. A lined tie-dye dress is better value than some of the other dresses at £50.

The ruffled puff shoulder top, which became a key basic for Topshop shoppers last season, is updated in paler shades of periwinkle blue and vanilla for spring.

roisin-hannigan-stark-topsh• Are you a regular shopper here?
Yes, I shop here regularly, although I prefer vintage shopping.

• What does this shop mean to you?
It's a bit wannabe vintage, but good for ideas and inspiration. I find it a bit pristine and clinical; the perfectly made-up mannequins with their carefully co-ordinated outfits make it feel a bit soulless.

• How impressed are you with this season's offerings?
It's not amazing. Nothing grabbed me or had that "wow" factor. I didn't like the huge emphasis on the nautical trend.

• What is it they're doing well?
It's good for basics; I buy my T-shirts here.

• What have they missed out that you would have liked to have seen?
I would like it to have a more boutique-like feeling, and I also think the concepts need to be improved. It lacks character. I feel there should also be smaller, cave-like sections – at the moment, despite the "eye this/ buy this", the layout is so confusing that your eyes glaze over as you try to find your way around.
