Danish brand house Bestseller has launched a fashion-forward womenswear label, Selected Femme.
The contemporary range has a clean aesthetic which references the 1970s, while incorporating modern design details and fabrics. The new range will complement the existing Selected menswear brand, which has been rebranded Selected Homme.
The debut Selected Femme collection mixes masculine with feminine styling, and both slim and voluminous silhouettes. Womenswear designer Christina Exsteen said: "Our aim was to produce a womenswear collection with high quality, perfect fit and its own identity."
Sophisticated tailoring is a key element of the new collection, demonstrated via trouser suits and tuxedo-inspired jackets with body-conscious silhouettes.
The casualwear collection comprises easy-to-wear jersey dresses and 1970s-inspired high-waisted flared jeans with silk chiffon printed shirts, alongside a 1970s-style printed silk maxi-dress with bell sleeves.
Selected Homme's autumn 08 range has also been given a more premium edge. Designer Jacob Christensen explained that the collection had been divided into four separate lines with Selected Homme at the core, offering a sophisticated look with layering as a key style.
A tailored denim line features classic five-pocket jeans and more fashion-oriented styles in a dark palette. Selected Homme Tailoring provides a classic look, while Bespoke Style offers statement pieces with more directional, trend-setting elements.
"The brand's history is in tailoring, but men want casual choices so we have all the options," said Christensen.
Each Selected Homme range comes in a masculine palette of grey, navy and black.
Prices for Selected Femme range from £17 for dresses to £23 for tailored jackets, while Selected Homme is between £16 for jeans and £30 for a blazer. Call 01763 846080 for more information.
