The BBC is to launch an online ethical fashion magazine called Thread.
The magazine, which will launch at www.bbc.co.uk/thread on April 22, is designed for fashion conscious consumers who care about where their clothes come from. A four-part television programme called Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts will air on BBC Three at the same time. The series features six young fashion lovers who travel to India to find out how their clothes are made.
Thread will feature fashion from eco-brands, tips for ethical shopping and articles about clothing manufacturing and the eonvorinmental footprint of goods.
The BBC said that research carried out for Thread among 16 to 30 year old consumers suggested that ethical fashion was no longer a fringe movement. Thread said that almost one in three people polled said they intended to buy more ethical fashion in the future.
