BFC calls for applications for New Generation sponsorship

The British Fashion Council has kicked off its search for the next round of New Generation sponsored designers at London Fashion Week.

Last season more than 200 designers applied for the Topshop supported New Generation sponsorship scheme.

Designers should apply for sponsorship for the September 2008 edition of London Fashion Week at www.londonfashionweek.co.uk. The closing date for applications is May 5. All of those meeting application requirements will be requested to submit samples from their collections which are reveiwed and selected by an advisory panel which features Topshop and BFC representatives as well as fashion directors from the world of retail and publishing.

The New Generation scheme launched in 1993 as a launch pad for talented and developing designer businesses. Previous winners of the sponsorship include Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab.

BFC chief executive Hilary Riva said: "London's creative reputation has been built on designers graduating through the New Gen sponsorship scheme. The New Gen winner's announcement is key to building excitement and anticipation of the quality ofr new design talent to be showcased on London's catwalks each to season to a global audience."
