The last chance to apply for New Generation sponsorship for London Fashion Week is fast approaching.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) is encouraging designers who wish to apply for the New Generation scheme, which is supported by Topshop, to do so online via www.londonfashionweek.co.uk by May 5.

The New Generation sponsorship scheme supports designers who wish to produce an on-schedule catwalk show during London Fashion Week and or those who wish to take a stand at the Exhibition at London Fashion Week.

Support is usually available for up to three seasons and applications will only be accepted from those who have been in business for three years or less.

Applications are considered by an advisory panel comprising senior fashion editors and buyers as well as representatives from the BFC and Topshop.

The New Generation scheme was established by the BFC in 1993 to create a launch pad for up and coming designer businesses.

Previous winners of the support include Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab.

New Generation winners also receive business support to help develop their businesses into commercial successes.
