Attendance at Bread & Butter fell against last year's record numbers

Last week's Bread & Butter Barcelona saw attendance fall 2.5% against last year's July show.

Some 89,168 visitors attended Bread & Butter last week down on the previous summer but the July 2007 edition had been the best attended edition so far.

Despite the fall in overall visitor numbers Bread & Butter said that visitors numbers from Eastern Europe, the US, Asia and South America increased.

The Source, Bread & Butter's new textile show which launched this season, attracted 4,983 visitors.

As opposed to the previous headline, "Manic Bread & Buttter defies Gloom" which was actually a welcome relief to all the downbeat headlines flying into my inbox

why is it so many folks in this industry find that they always have to detail negatives over trade shows such as b&b? c'mon it is tough out there and i thought from start to finish the show was a brilliant success.
brilliantly organised (apart from the mayhem outdoor barbie!!) and great attention to detail. where would we be without this show? please start to appreciate what we have in b&b. the show has to roll with economic punches and it does so with flying colours.

It felt quiet now here is the proof. If these emerging markets are stronger and numbers still fell then what does that say about true attendance from the traditional markets like the UK and northern Europe please? Where were the Germans/Dutch/French? I did not see them. is this a sign of the times or a sign of B&B changing?
