B&B will slash exhibitor numbers

Young fashion tradeshow Bread & Butter is to cull almost 100 exhibitors for the January edition.

The Barcelona show will have just 800 exhibitors at the next edition, down from 892 at the show taking place this week, already cut from 954 last season.

Bread & Butter organiser Karl-Heinz Muller said that going forward the show would focus on bigger brands, and brands with a strong international presence.

He added that the show would not shrink in square footage but that he was under pressure to offer some of the strongest exhibitors more space to showcase special projects.

He denied that the brand cull was a reaction to the global economic crisis, which he insisted had not had any impact on attendance or the success of the show.

Muller added that he would begin working on the January 09 edition next week and that he expected to finalise the new exhibitor list by November.
