Drapers Awards 2016 Fashion Pureplay Etailer of the Year had another hugely successful year, sending Boohoo co-founders Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane rocketing up 19 places from last year and into the top 10 for the first time.

Boohoo has become one of fashion’s most successful etailers in the 10 years since it launched in 2006, and it continues to stand out in the increasingly competitive online fast fashion sector. Its pre-tax profits leapt 129% to £14.4m in the six months to 31 August, while sales increased by 40% on the previous year to £127.3m, and the 10-year-old Manchester-based etailer was valued at £1bn for the first time in September.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, Kamani and Kane have continued to expand Boohoo’s product ranges: they launched a standalone menswear website in March, and also added kidswear to its increasingly impressive offer. And this week, it bought 66% of PrettyLittleThing, the young fashion etailer founded by Kamani’s son, Umar.
