This year Joules founder Tom Joule is joined by chief executive Colin Porter. Porter was promoted from managing director to CEO in September 2015, allowing Joule to take a step back from the day-to-day running of the business and focus on its branding and creative design.

The partnership has proved a winning one so far: the lifestyle brand was valued at £140m before it floated on the London Stock Exchange’s junior Aim market in May and soon after reported a 12.7% increase in sales to £131.3m for the full year to 29 May, with international sales growing to make up 10% of the business and a strong focus on multichannel sales.

In August, Joules opened its biggest store yet in Edinburgh, at 3,375 sq ft.

It rounded off the year by being named Mainstream of the Year at the Drapers Awards in November.
