Susan Saideman makes her debut in the Top 100 this year after she stepped into the shoes of Sergio Bucher at Amazon in September. Although the etail giant is not currently recognised as a significant destination for fashion, it has made no secret of its ambitions to change all that.
Influencers such as Chiara Ferragni and Susie Lau have created a stir on social media for Amazon this year, while the recruitment of former Marks & Spencer director of womenswear Frances Russell to lead private-label development made many industry insiders sit up and take notice.
Research firm Verdict put Amazon’s UK clothing market share at 0.6% this year, compared with Asos’s 1.4% and M&S’s 8.4%, but in the US, some analysts suggest it could be the number one clothing retailer by next year.
Saideman has yet to make her influence seen, but keep an eye on her in 2017.
