Mothercare’s sales have fluctuated this year, as it struggled with unseasonable weather, currency headwinds and weakening consumer confidence in international markets.
Newton-Jones has refurbished 60% of the UK store estate, upgraded its distribution and online capabilities, and closed unprofitable stores. In August, the business launched new websites for both Mothercare and Early Learning Centre. Mothercare has also introduced maternity collections from Boohoo and specialist brand Noppies online and in selected UK stores.
This year, he also oversaw GFW’s 25th birthday celebrations with several new sponsors on board. GFW has also launched a project with the UK Fashion & Textile Association and M&S to bring together graduate designers and UK manufacturers.
