Drapers Top 100 2016 – 79. Rob Feldmann, chief executive, BrandAlley

Rob Feldmann makes his debut in the Top 100 this year thanks to the success of his flash Sale site BrandAlley, which has capitalised on the slump in sales on the high street.

More and more retailers have unsold stock to shift at the end of each season, and flash Sale sites provide some relief. At the end of 2015, BrandAlley received a multimillion-pound investment from Chinese private Sale site Vipshop to grow the business in the UK, as well as expand into China.

The company made an operating loss of £2.6m in the year to 31 December 2015, its most recent results, but said it has been profitable at EBITDA level since the end of February, and expects this to continue as it delivers “significant growth” in its pre-Christmas trading period.
