Drapers Top 100 2017 – 34. José Neves, Founder and CEO, Farfetch

It has been another busy and productive year for José Neves at the helm of Farfetch. Now partnering with more than 500 boutiques and 200 brands, Farfetch recorded more than 21 million visits per month to its websites in the year to 31 December 2016. It was crowned the UK’s fastest-growing retailer in a report by OC&C Strategy Consultants and Financo, after it achieved 70% revenue growth in 2016.

In February, it was announced that Net-a-Porter founder Dame Natalie Massenet had been appointed non-executive co-chairman at Farfetch. Three months later, in April, Neves unveiled his much-anticipated “Store of the Future” concept, which looks at how to use data to link the online and offline worlds.

In June, Farfetch joined forces with etail giant JD.com to create “the premier platform for luxury ecommerce across China”, combining Farfetch’s expertise in luxury with JD.com’s logistical and technical capabilities. The same month, Neves entered into a partnership with Condé Nast, following the shuttering of the publisher’s fledgling ecommerce site Style.com. He later hired former Style.com fashion director and influential industry insider Yasmin Sewell as vice-president of style and creative at Farfetch.
