Kering to launch online course in sustainable luxury fashion

Kering and London College of Fashion have partnered to launch an open-access online course in sustainable luxury fashion.

The course, entitled ‘Fashion & Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World’, is designed to promote the wider adoption of more sustainable practices.

Academics at LFC and Kering sustainability experts have co-developed the course’s six modules. Participants will take part over a six-week period, which spans 18 teaching hours through a mixture of films, podcasts, activities and discussions.

François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering, said: “At Kering we believe the shift towards sustainability and innovation in luxury fashion is not only an imperative, in our world of finite resources, but also a goldmine of opportunity.”

Professor Frances Corner, head of London College of Fashion, said the course had been over a year in the making.

“It signals a real desire and commitment from the industry to the ‘open sourcing’ of knowledge,” said Corner. “Only through collaboration and the sharing of experience can we face the enormity of the challenges that lie ahead together.”

The first six-week course will begin on 9 April.
