In 2019, Anne Pitcher is set to move away from her role as managing director at Selfridges to take responsibility of the wider Selfridges Group.
In her final year leading the retailer, she delivered on long-term projects, as business investments begin to pay off. In August, the long-awaited accessories hall revamp launched at Oxford Street in London, as part of the store’s ongoing £300m renovation. The overhaul also involved the launch of a streetwear-led menswear section, which opened in October.
Strong financial performance continued at the retailer: its most recent results showed a 11.5% jump in sales to £1.75bn for the year to February 2018. Pitcher credited much of the growth to Selfridges’ continuing focus on in-store experiences – a philosophy that has guided the Oxford Street store’s new look.
