Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane, co-founders, Boohoo Group

Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane have had an incredible year.

Revenue at Boohoo Group grew 50% to £395.3m for the six months to 31 August, as profit before tax increased 22% to £24.7m. UK sales were up 43% and international sales soared by 62% year on year.

There were revenue rises across all of its brands: Boohoo was up 15% to £209m, PrettyLittleThing up 132% to £168.6m and NastyGal up 111% to £17.7m.

In September, Boohoo announced that Primark COO John Lyttle will be joining as CEO in March next year. Kamani will become group executive chairman, focusing on the group’s long-term strategic direction, and Kane will take up an executive director role, leading the multi-brand strategy.

In November, Kamani and Kane were named Leaders of the Year at the Drapers Awards – marking a phenomenal 12 years, during which they have led the business to the market-leading position it is in today.
