Adidas posted a 18.6% rise in net income to €540m (£476m) for the first quarter of 2018, on the back of €5.5bn (£4.84bn) in global sales. Operating gross margins rose by 1.8% to 51.1%.

The brand’s redesigned UK headquarters fully opened in October. The expansive campus in Stockport is the regional west of Europe head office, covering the UK, Ireland, the Nordics, Iberia, France and Benelux. Extensive refurbishments aim to boost the performance and well-being of staff.

On the sustainability front, Adidas and stablemate Reebok were named as the brands with the most transparent supply chain by lobby group Fashion Revolution.
