Drapers 30 Under 30 2020: Amy Howse, junior retail transformation partner, Asos

Age: 27

It was while working on the shop floor at her local Topshop in St Albans that Amy Howse first heard her colleagues talking about the Fashion Retail Academy.

After looking up the London college online, Howse decided she wanted to pursue a career in fashion. She graduated in 2011 and started at online giant Asos as an entry merchandising admin assistant. She has since rapidly climbed the ranks.

After beginning in the merchandising department, in 2017 Howse moved to become part of a transformation programme designed to shake up Asos’s approach to buying and merchandising.

“Amy has taken bold and brave steps in her time at Asos, such as switching her career from core merchandising to retail transformation,” says Lucy Partridge, senior retail transformation partner at Asos. “She jumped straight into the large and responsible role, using her experience to develop new systems and processes at Asos. She has been the business lead on a standardised range plan solution and was instrumental in building a new financial planning system, which has just gone live to 200 users.”

Howse describes her biggest achievement as becoming chairperson of the etailer’s internal forum, InTouch, earlier this year. She represents the voice of “Asos-ers” to the executive and senior leadership teams, while always thinking of new ways to make the business a better place to work.

Howse is also mentored by former Figleaves CEO Miriam Lahage. Howse says Lahage has helped her to believe in herself.
