Proportion play defines much of the newness at LK Bennett next season. Smart trousers are high waisted and extra wide, coats are sleekly tailored and elongated to shin-skimming lengths, and the retailer’s signature midi-skirt is pumped up in an exaggerated A-line shape. Velvet – the key fabric on the autumn 16 catwalks – lends a luxe feel to dresses and outerwear, while the bohemian air of flouncy floral maxi-dresses is tempered by military-influenced jackets.
LK Bennett’s turnover fell 1.8% in the year to August 2015 as it shut some loss-making UK stores, but like-for-like sales grew by 5% in the same period.
