A closer look: Portas Pilot Towns

Research from the Local Data Company around the Portas Pilot towns has revealed independents are greater in number than multiples across the 12 towns selected for the Pilot scheme.

Here Drapers shares some of the information provided by the Local Data Company relating to each of the 12 towns, outlining the key attributes of each area in a series of graphs.

Research agency the Local Data Company has agreed to support the first 12 Portas Pilot Town Teams with data and as part of this has provided a top line view of the key attributes of each town.

“As the data shows they are a diverse mix of towns with very different occupancy and vacancy profiles,” said Matthew Hopkinson director of the Local Data Company.

“I look forward to providing the most comprehensive data via the latest delivery technologies to enable each town to have a ‘radar’ of what is happening inside and within the vicinity of the town in terms of retail and leisure offer.

“Through a current and historical understanding of its profile and in combination with the Mary Portas team I hope we can assist in the £100,000 award being utilised to deliver the best possible results and thus be an example to many other towns up and down the country.”
