At the helm of home-shopping giant N Brown, Alan White has driven a strong year of growth at the group.
Acclaimed for targeting niche markets with brands such as plus-size womenswear label Simply Be, White has maintained N Brown’s prime focus and achieved a solid year, defying the economic gloom by posting a 19.6% pre-tax profit rise to £40.8 million for the six months to August 30.
Sales also leapt 12.6% to £322.8m, boosted by an increase in customer numbers and spend per customer. Menswear sales were “exceptional”, due to an impressive second season for N Brown’s plus-size menswear business Jacamo.
White plans to double menswear sales to more than £50m in the next three years. With his exceptional financial background, one industry colleague described White as “a genuinely good guy, who’s great at making money.”
