Canadian footwear retailer Aldo has launched its fashion week collaborations programme Aldo Rise as a collection in London’s Selfridges.
The Aldo Rise spring 12 collection - a collaboration with four designers - has grown out of Aldo Rise, an initiative where the footwear retailer aided designers to create footwear for their catwalk shows, providing access to design and sourcing resources.
The Aldo Rise spring 12 collection, unveiled in Selfridges yesterday, sees collections from designers including JW Anderson and Preen, as well as collections from Canadian designer Mark Fast and New York-based designer Libertine.
The range from Preen, the London-based design duo of Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, features four styles in a range of colourways, all of which sport white square heels.
JW Anderson’s collection also features four styles with feather details and patchwork textures while Mark Fast’s collection uses elements of his iconic cut-out ready-to-wear line.
The aim of the Aldo Rise collections is to increase awareness of the designers as well as offering customers access to high-fashion product at an affordable price.
All of the footwear in the collection is priced at £125 per pair apart from the range from Preen which is priced at £135.
The pop-up featuring the footwear will be exclusive to Selfridges’ Shoe Galleries until February 22 after which time they will then be available on Asos.com for a limited period until March 8, before rolling-out to Aldo stores worldwide.
Aldo has said it will continue the Aldo Rise collections for autumn 12, continuing to work with some of the same designers and also bringing new designers on board.
