Alexa Chung, TV presenter and model

The ringleader of the London fashion pack, Alexa Chung’s star soared in 2008. The model turned presenter grew into her role as anchorwoman on Channel 4’s youth slot T4 and quickly picked up indie rock arm candy in the way of Arctic Monkey Alex Turner.

Her constant presence on the small screen has been particularly fashion-focused this year, as she became right-hand lady to Gok Wan on his Gok’s Fashion Fix show, and co-presented this autumn’s Frock Me series with designer Henry Holland.

In turn, pictures of her off-TV attire are constantly on gossip mag’s style pages with her mix of vintage clothing and high-end pieces, providing respite from the homogenous high street.

Chung’s exotic looks, courtesy of her Anglo-Chinese background, earned her a modelling contract with Storm aged just 16. Despite opting for presenting over modelling, the highlight of Chung’s year was surely her walk down Vivienne Westwood’s spring 09 Red Label catwalk in September.
