AMG to cease fashion footwear distribution

AMG, the former distributor of sheepskin boot brand Ugg Australia, is to cease footwear distribution and focus on its outdoor business.

As a result of the change, AMG will end its sales and distribution relationship with the Wolverine and Australia Luxe Collective footwear brands at the end of the autumn 12 season.

AMG’s portfolio of outdoor brands include winter sports brand Rossignol, camping products brand Vango and performance glove brand Phoenix.

“Whilst we will miss working in the very exciting and vibrant sector of fashion footwear, in these tough economic times it is important that we focus on our core business and continue to drive our growth plans by delivering excellent customer service and products that exceed consumer expectations,” said Stephen Newlands managing director of AMG Group.

“We felt that in the current climate, and with the extremely torrid time, which the footwear industry faced through 2011 autumn/winter, that we should divest ourselves of any activities that distract us from our core business.

“Working with brands such as UGG Australia, Wolverine and Australia Luxe Collective has been a great privilege. We are proud of the part we played in building these brands in the UK and wish the respective brand owners the very best for the future.”
