Bank holiday footfall up at Bluewater

Bluewater shopping centre experienced a 7.8% increase in footfall over the May bank holiday weekend compared with the same long weekend last year.

Bluewater, the Kent-based retail and leisure destination, saw the largest like-for-like growth on Bank Holiday Monday when shopper numbers rose 17.5% on the same day in 2008.

Bluewater said it had also recorded a strong April, with visitor numbers up 7.5% across the month on April 2008.

Retailers at Bluewater are believed to have benefited from the recent sunshine and the forecast for a long hot summer, which is thought to have driven sales of spring fashions.
