Basso and Brooke

The look:

Print specialists Basso & Brooke moved on from last year’s oriental inspiration to focus on the 17th century for autumn 09, winding swirled baroque motifs into their colourful designs. Blurred hexagonal shapes, leopard spot, candy stripes and ornate filigrees were paired in panels on satin dresses and belted trenches, and slivers of bright colours enlivened muted rococo prints.

Key pieces:

As per expected, print dominated the collection, but decorative swirls featured as appliqué too, layered over simple belted floral dresses, while a predominantly straight up and down set of silhouettes was punctuated with metallic repeat print tops which curved into exaggerated hip shapes.
