Benetton deputy chair crowned top business entrepreneur

The executive deputy chairman of Italian fashion group Benetton has been awarded a top business accolade for his contribution to the Benetton business.

Alessandro Benetton was awarded with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in Milan last week and he will now represent Italy at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo in June.

Benetton has been executive deputy chairman of the fashion business since 2007 and has achieved growth for the business in key markets including India, Russia, Mexico and Poland and has strengthened the identity of the group’s main brands United Colors of Benetton, Sisley and Playlife.

The retail group is now present in 120 countries, with a network of 6,400 stores, producing an annual turnover of more than €2bn (£1.67bn).
